The curious case of a Love Letter: The End

"Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki,
mit jaave jado zid apnaan di"

I climbed the stairs, lost in thoughts and saw torn pieces of paper lying around. I looked down, as I stepped on one such piece and continued walking only to stop a few steps later. I ran down and picked up one torn piece and read it. Like a thief, I looked around and then pocketed all the other pieces that I could find and ran up to my room.

Yes, it was a letter. It was written in black with fountain pen in flawless handwriting. It had the same Victorian vocabulary that had got me all excited about love and a lover. It was about love but this time it was anything else but a love letter.  I'll make a confession here, last time when the letter had come it made me wish for a lover. I felt, as if I had missed out on something big in my life and wished and hoped badly for it. This time, though, it broke my heart.

The letter described why he had fallen in love with her and how he wished for her. Also, how he knew that they can never be together not because the society was the enemy but because she did not love him back. It was his last letter to her wishing her well.

All our life we meet people but why is it that someone we can't be together with becomes the most important person in our lives. All your life you are so sure that something called love can never happen to you because you are way practical for all this nonsense but one fine day without expecting BAM!!! You don't even realize it but something in you changes, somehow you are not the same person because you secretly start caring about someone. You not only hide this fact from the world but also from yourself because all the while you convinced yourself that love is not for you. Here's my friend conclusion to her lost love “We all need some sadness in our hearts." I think I agree with her and I think I know what love is now.

  1. I've always believed that love is love...you experience love and the feelings that accompany, the other person loving you or not notwithstanding. At least what you experienced in your heart was pure, so what if the other person didn't reciprocate. So damned be people who say to be loved is bliss. I'd say experiencing love is as good a thing!
